The School of Architecture
The Architecture area at the University of Hertfordshire is part of the School of Creative Arts, which traces its origins to the St Albans School of Art (1890). Today, Architecture is a thriving and integral discipline within the School, bringing together two undergraduate and two postgraduate programmes: BA (Hons) Architecture (ARB/RIBA Part 1), MArch Architecture and Urbanism (ARB/RIBA Part 2), BA (Hons) Interior Architecture and Design, and MA Interior Design. We see Architecture and Interior Architecture & Design as closely connected fields, encouraging students to engage with the built environment across different scales and contexts. Research is a central part of our identity, led by the Arch+ Research Group and supported by our doctoral programme in Architecture and Design, which fosters innovative, socially engaged, and cross-disciplinary projects. Working in collaboration with communities, authorities, and international partners, we offer students and researchers a dynamic environment where design thinking creates real-world impact.
