Past ACSA President and NJIT Faculty Branko Kolarevic Has Passed Away
News article by EAAE - 10/02/2026
We were deeply saddened by the news that our dear colleague Branko Kolarevic had suddenly passed away on January 29, surrounded by his family. Branko served as the ACSA president from 2018 to 2019 and has been a regular guest at both our joint events and EAAE annual gatherings. He was the former dean of the Hillier College of Architecture and Design at the New Jersey Institute of Technology.
Branko was the second ACSA president elected from a Canadian institution and was a strong advocate for international collaboration throughout his tenure. Under his leadership, ACSA formalized partnerships through memorandums of understanding with counterpart organizations in Europe, Mexico, and Australasia, as well as with the International Union of Architects. He played a key role in launching the first of what has become an ongoing series of Teachers Conferences, organized jointly with the EAAE.
Read Branko's full obituary here, where - in lieu of flowers - donations can also be made to the Legacy Scholarship Branko Kolarevic.
We send our heartfelt condolences to his wife Vera, son Marko, and numerous friends and colleagues that have known and collaborated with him.
